Two weeks ago, a very special wedding took place: My own! John and I said YES! You sent me so many lovely congratulations and I have never been so touched. THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart! We had a magical, mindblowing day and we are still floating on cloud nine 🙂

The very next day (in a dress almost as beautiful as my own ;)), Meghan and Harry got married too! It was such a funny coincidence, because when I was a little girl, my mother always dreamed that I would end up marrying Prince Harry. Alas, her dream didn’t come true… but that’s fine, because not for anything in the world would I want to switch places, hehehe 🙂
However, I loved that the royal wedding was so natural, fresh and modern, especially the very unroyal Royal Wedding Cake:
The wedding cake is to be served at the Reception. It was designed by Claire Ptak and features elderflower syrup made at The Queen’s residence in Sandringham from the estate’s own elderflower trees, as well as a light sponge cake uniquely formulated for the couple. #royalwedding pic.twitter.com/kt5lE4tEn9

A filling made from Amalfi lemon curd and elderflower buttercream ties all the elements together. The cake is decorated with Swiss meringue buttercream and 150 fresh flowers, mainly British, and in season, including peonies and roses. #RoyalWedding
The prince and his bride managed to surprise the world!
The combination of lemon and elderflower sounds so dreamy, so of course I had to try it as soon as I had the chance. And now you can, too! I recorded everything you need to know in my latest Facebook Live Session:
How to make your own Royal Wedding Cake (lemon elderflower cake)
And here are links to all the recipes:
- Easy Genoise (just substitute the milk for lemon juice, and add some grated lemon zest (I finally remembered the word! 🙂 )
- Swiss Meringue Buttercream
- Lemon Curd (translated by Google)
- Elderflower syrup (cordial)
Have a lot of fun! Please tag me on Insta if you make this cake! 🙂
Love and happy baking,
